You may have all heard this, but I hadn’t. Larry Norman died this Sunday, he was only 60.
Be sure to watch the video…it’s so fitting!
I remember listening to my sister’s LPs and also seeing him in concert at Doane College in Nebraska…with Michele & Kirk. Those were the early days of my walk with God, and I believe his music had an influence on me. He didn’t look or sound like the other “Christian” groups of that time, the Imperials, Dallas Holmes, etc…. I guess that showed me that spirituality doesn’t demand conformity; in fact Christianity has little to do with that! He stayed true to himself and his music and probably passed up more fame simply because he insisted on singing about Jesus. I pray that his influence outlives him and reaches a fresh audience with that message.
A good tribute to his life and career: http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2008/februaryweb-only/109-22.0.html
